This is the first and most important step in DXN NW Biz. Two terminologies people commonly mix up : ‘Ambition’ & ‘Business Goal’. Ambition refers to intensive desire (or motive) whereas, Biz Goal refers to a Desire fully supported by Commitment and Resources.

In general, ‘Goal setting’ and ‘Organizational plan’ are considered together, because they are inter-dependent.

There are three overall guiding factors in GOAL setting :

  1. Activity Related (most commonly practiced)
  2. Policy Related (Strategy / Leadership)
  3. Performance Related.

All of them follow the same Marketing Plan of DXN, which is known for its versatility. But, Biz Returns may vary widely. This is the reason one should NOT COPY the actions of the others BLINDLY ! Let us study and understand them separately.

ACTIVITY RELATED approach : There are  TWO essential activities in DXN business :

1. Retailing Products to End-Consumers ;   2. Duplicating the ‘same activity’ down the network. (ref: chart). Therefore, there should be clear Targets for both the activities; Also, there should be a well-defined ‘Time frame’ for achieving the Target.
